The Ruby Door

This was a great location with most restaurants and attractions within a short drive. We loved how close it was to Balboa Park given our short stay. The home itself was clean and felt professionally maintained.

We had a great stay at Ariel’s place while we were in San Diego for the DTECH conference. 8 minutes from the convention center, peaceful area and great experience overall. We would recommend highly!

Nice little 2 bedroom home, worked well for our weekend stay. Parking was easy to find in front of the house.

Ariel was a very communicative and attentive host. She always responded very quickly, which we really appreciated. When I was not satisfied with the cleanliness level of the house, she sent cleaners right away for a touch-up. The location was good and conveniently close to downtown. Since the house is pet-friendly, the carpets and couch could be better suited for that, and the pans were not in good condition. Overall, the responsiveness of the host and the location were definite positives.

We had a great stay at The Ruby Door. The home was comfortable and well stocked, self check-in was easy, and Ariel was quick and clear with communication. The Golden Hill location made it super easy to get around San Diego. Would absolutely stay again.

The house and location were perfect for our staycation. The neighborhood has several great restaurants and coffee shops nearby and super walkable. Barrio coffee was a great new coffee shop that we tried out and we loved it. The space was clean, comfortable, had all the amenities listed, and we were super thrilled it was pet friendly. There is even space in the front for our little guy to hang out. There is no designated parking spot, but plenty of available street parking near the home itself. Ariel was wonderful and communicative. The check-out process was easy and a bonus to our stay. Would definitely recommend and stay again.

The house and location were wonderful. The neighborhood is very walkway, there’s a few restaurants and coffee places to check out, I walked around at night and felt totally safe. I took my two dogs with me and the house was perfect for all of us. As described in the listing the parking is street parking, I was able to park within a block-ish of the house and it didn’t cause me any issues. The fire pit was an awesome amenity, there’s beds were comfortable and I had all the necessary items for my stay. Would stay again.

I stayed here for a month before my move to Spain, and it was absolutely wonderful. Ariel is genuinely the kindest owner I’ve ever dealt with. Any issue I had—big or small—she addressed straightaway with patience and genuine kindness. For example, there wasn’t a toaster when I arrived, and she Instacarted one over immediately. Truly above and beyond. The beds, pillows, blankets and sofa were all incredibly comfortable. Walking in for the first time was such a delight—everything was adorable, and being greeted by a full Brita in the fridge was such a thoughtful touch. The location is fantastic. You can stroll to a couple of lovely coffee shops, grab some proper Mexican food nearby, and it’s great for walking your doggies. The home was spotless, and the backyard was brilliant for grilling and relaxing. I also had a few packages arrive late, and she was kind enough to allow my mother-in-law to pick them up. This cozy cottage was so cute!! We are San Diego locals and stayed here with our dogs/kids while getting our house worked on. Great location and great communication. We will highly recommend to family or friends when they come to town!
