The 1905 House

We loved our stay as a family of four. The place is so charming and the neighborhood has lots of restaurants and cafes nearby. Everything was clean, well stocked, and communication was very quick. Definitely recommend staying here!

I’ve stayed at many Airbnbs and understand that every home has its quirks, but this stay was more challenging than expected. We arrived late at night with young kids, after confirming in advance that check-in would be smooth. Unfortunately, when we got there, the interior bedroom doors were locked, and we couldn’t access the rooms. It took multiple calls before we reached someone, and a locksmith was eventually sent out around midnight. It was a stressful experience, especially after a long travel day with children. The home itself has character but is showing its age. The water temperature was difficult to regulate, and the patio door from the living room didn’t lock properly. The master bedroom was spacious but noisy. The management team offered a refund for one night due to the issue, but the amount was less than what we paid for that night. Communication has since been inconsistent, and the refund still hasn’t given for the major issue.

We enjoyed our stay here. I recommend the space, keeping in mind that it is an older unit. Having the air conditioning in late July/early August was a real bonus. Peter was excellent in communication and in meeting our needs. The beds were very comfortable, and the outdoor space was very enjoyable. The only trouble we had was fussing with the gate leading to the parking area. Otherwise, this unit served our purposes very well for two couples. Overall, the experience was excellent.

Good location for many areas. A walkable neighborhood. Really comfy beds. Would have liked a little more seating in the den area and something a little more comfortable but realize it is small. Kitchen and bathrooms were well stocked. Enjoyed our stay!

Peter’s place was perfect for our stay in the Hillcrest area. Easy parking and check in. The space was accurately described and very comfortable. The neighborhood has plenty to do in walking distance. Would definitely stay here again!

We stayed for 5 days for Comic-Con. Was a little disappointed coz we didn’t know it’s a house converted to 2 separate units. So this place is the upper floor with an interesting layout. Pros - Great location. Not that far away from convention center. - Clean space w/ lots of towels. - Responsive host. - 2 parking spots. Cons - Old house with stairs so if you have big and heavy luggage it will be inconvenient. - Only one bathroom. Not that convenient for more than 2 people staying. (It’s my bad not paying attention to the info on the listing.. since I assumed if this place can take 5 people max.. it’s supposed to have 2 bathrooms at least.) - Shower has low water pressure. Couldn’t enjoy a great shower after our long and tiring convention day. - It’s pretty noisy outside since it’s right next to the street. I know the Peter is trying hard to be a super host but I was disappointed and felt bad for my con helpers bcoz they were complaining. (Especially the water pressure issue.)

From start to finish Peter was the perfect host. He clearly cares about the property and has taken pride in sharing it with others. He was super responsive when we had questions, courteous and made us feel respected and flexible with requests. He lives downstairs but honestly you would never know - he truly respects privacy and supports you in making it feel like home. The space itself is wonderful. Very clean. Super comfy bed. It is an older well built and lovingly cared for place made of beautiful older materials and styles. Groovy retro bathroom that is actually the original tiles and some really delightful wallpaper. The back deck is on the second floor facing west, so we had lovely views of the buildings and trees silhouetted against the setting Sun. The area is active but also very chill. There was city life going on, but it felt very harmonious. Great shops and restaurants within walking distance. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Thank you Peter!

Great place!! Loved the vintage touches, we were in town for the Rock n Roll Marathon, walking distance to both start and finish line. Peter provided clear instructions for easy self checking, parking definitively a plus in the area!

We loved this space. Comfortable, well furnished, nice bedding. We used and enjoyed every room and the patio. It had exactly what we needed. The neighborhood is a favorite - right in Hillcrest and next to Bankers Hill. A variety of quirky cute and fun cafes and restaurants. And a lovely area with little canyons, bridges, and old charm. Walked to the museums also. We loved our stay!

Great and affordable Airbnb with a beautiful outdoor area in a prime SD location. I will note that this is a maximum 6-person space. There are two beds and one blow-up mattress (that was actually quite comfortable and in its own private room) but 7 guests is quite a stretch. This was perfectly suited to our needs for the weekend and the host was very responsive and helpful when we needed it.

A perfect spot to make it a place to call your home base. You'll still need a car, but it's walkable to Hillcrest for your coffee/food fix, and a short distance to the airport, downtown, and freeways! That particular intersection, though is not the main thoroughfare of the area, can be a tad on the noisy side in the mornings (in case you're a light sleeper), audible from both rooms, not an issue in the evenings. Unique spot, definitely a commercial conversion, but we enjoyed the uniqueness! Would stay again!

Beautiful home fully stocked and tastefully decorated. The beds are so comfortable I want the same setup for my home! We also really enjoyed the patio area. Check in and check out are super easy. Peter is very responsive both for booking and during our stay. Thanks so much again!

Peter was a great Super host and communicated the details of our stay in a very timely and friendly manner. Our host honored all our requests before checking in. This place is very clean and charming. It’s a historic building and very unique. Location is great and walking distance to many restaurants and shops. It is located in a lively area, so you may hear a few busses and cars going by early in the evening, but then the noise stops and turns into a quiet and tranquil neighborhood. We really enjoyed our stay and very grateful for all the allergy friendly accommodations. ( No pets, no smoking, no fragrances and harsh chemicals used) Awesome Airbnb experience thanks to Peter.

Perfect place in a great location in Hillcrest. Exactly as advertised. I can confirm the accuracy and details of the many positive reviews. Peter was great at communicating, clearly ready to help if needed, but discreetly in the background. Even my skin has more luster for having slept in a dermatologist's old office. I'll be back.

We had a great stay here. The place is charming and spacious and a wonderful location, within a 5-minute walk to lots of bars and restaurants.

This was my first airbnb experience and it was great! Peter is such a generous host. He is responsive and considerate. He sent very clear and detailed instructions prior to my arrival and he also had coffee and rice Krispy treats ready for our group. The property itself is very cute! It is exactly as pictured and described but I don’t think you can appreciate how charming it is until you stay there. It is walking distance from the Main Street of Hillcrest and it is a very short drive from Gaslamp and Little Italy. What a great long weekend trip! Thank you, Peter!

Delightful stay, and wonderful location!

We LOVED Peter's place! The space was really ideal for us and it didn't feel like an Airbnb (which is a good thing in my opinion). It was charming and well decorated and the beds were super comfortable. The deck was a real treat...perfect place to relax and enjoy the beautiful weather. The kitchen was well stocked and everything was as described. The entire place was very clean. Peter's communication was prompt and all details were well thought out. The check in process was easy and we were glad to have a designated parking space. As a bonus, Peter graciously accommodated our request for a late check out which was super helpful. Overall we were VERY pleased with our stay (including my brother who has very high standards). We will definitely try to book again next time we are in San Diego.

My stay with Peter could not have been any better! He made us feel very welcomed in his home and was very easy to keep in contact with whenever anything was needed. The location itself is walking distance from many good restaurants and gaslamp area isn’t too far either. The home was very spacious, clean, and included all the amenities you could ask for. I booked this stay for my parents for a weekend. Though it is an older building, the Airbnb itself was very clean and well-maintained. My parents said the beds were comfortable and the checkin/checkout process was easy. Peter was also a very attentive and responsive host!

Fabulous location in a very interesting community, central to downtown, Balboa Park and suprisingly easy access to the freeways leading to beaches, Ocean Beach, Mission Beach, even La Jolla. The small deck is an added delight for eating breakfast or just sitting outside reading.

Peter’s place was nothing but amazing. It was spacious, clean and had perfect mid century touches. We will miss Saturday breakfasts on the patio listening to the birds chirping and being in warm sun. We stayed for two months, the apt had everything we needed to cook and clean. We had enough space to work in separate rooms. The master bedroom was perfect, spacious with a beautiful king bed and nice linen. Thank you Peter for being a wonderful and accommodating host, we loved our stay ❤️

Really a lovely place! We were there for a little over a month and had a wonderful stay. In a really cute neighborhood, just blocks away from lots of restaurants and bars. Peter was super responsive as well. The patio is amazing and the rooms are spacious. There are also lots of individual rooms if you’re working from home. Would definitely stay again!

Peters place was perfect for our visit. It has a spacious patio, the inside was vintage and lovely, and there were nice touches of coffee, water, and snacks. The beds were comfortable and location was walking distance to the university street in hillcrest. Only a 5 minute drive away from balboa park! Peter was easy to get ahold of. Will definitely stay again.

This place is amazing! Very centrally located, great walking distance to everything, and Peter was in fact a super host. Answered all my questions, very quick to reply, and had clear instructions and help for anything I needed, including a legit and awesome recommendation list of where to eat. You will LOVE the spacious outdoor deck to enjoy the San Diego sun, or the stars on a beautiful night. I would stay here again fro sure!

Trendy spot in a historical home, comfortable beds, vintage touches and private parking. We loved our quick commute to the airport for an early morning flight out of San Diego.

Hillcrest House is located in a great quiet neighborhood with a wonderful outdoor 2nd floor deck. The place was clean and had 2 bedrooms that were bright and airy. A living room/ den with a large TV was great for enjoying Netflix. Peter was very responsive in providing us a set of 3 new Pyrex mixing bowls we used for food preparation and serving bowls for the days we did not go out to eat in the nearby restaurants and cafes. We were able to walk to the movies, a Comedy Improv club, and a local weekly Swing Dancing club venue. We found a weekend Farmers Market near Hillcrest and a weekday Farmers Market near Northpark.

Perfect location in Hillcrest with amazing bars and restaurants a short 5-10 minute walk away. The parking is handy if you have a car and the home was well maintained.

The location and space was lovely, convenient, and a sweet getaway!

From the glistening blue wrappers indicative of rice krispie treats peeking out of a welcome basket to the motion activated well-lit entrance, no stone was left unturned. In fact, the apartment was so well curated (including the lavender honey body wash), that we had a challenging time departing after our 3 day vacation! The top floor of a two story building, in a lovely, clean and safe area (personally tested by one of our female guest’s 5:00 am walks to a local Starbucks, and another’s mile walk home after dark from a surrounding neighborhood), it was the perfect choice. Great location... a short drive from beautiful beaches and hikes, and walking distance to lots of fun restaurants, gelato, shops, movies and to Balboa Park. Easily fit three adults but could have accommodated more with the air mattresses that were provided. Enjoyed sipping coffee and doing work in the kitchen and on the deck. Place is very quiet at night even though on a busy street. Would highly recommend short term or long! Thanks Peter!

I came for a plastic surgery congress ; and I chose this place for my staying ; I couldn’t choose a better place. Spacious, super clean, comfortable , cozy , quiet , impecable ; everything you need is close. Highly highly recommended if you are looking for a classy , traditional and modern place . Place was ok

Very nice apartment in the ideal San Diego location. The apartment itself is a modified doctors office with retro features. It has a great balcony and is well laid out. The location is close to Hillcrest and just north of Bankers hill. Overall a great spot to stay when in San Diego.

Peter's place was great! My husband and I spent a long weekend with some close friends here and loved getting to have our morning coffee on the gorgeous porch. Hillcrest is a cool area and walkable to Balboa (long walk, but walkable). The location is convenient. All the major San Diego sights are a 10-15 minute uber away. Peter's place was clean and stylishly minimalistic. We would totally stay there again.

We had the perfect time at Peter‘s apartment. We visited San Diego for Comiccon and the apartment was just the best refuge after a long day of Convention. The location is great and the interior of the apartment is very lovely! We can highly recommend it, many thanks again!

Peter’s place is amazing. Perfect location for walking around in Hillcrest. We worked at the Civic Theater which was always less than a $10 uber. Beds were super comfy, air conditioning works amazingly, quiet area. Deck is beautiful and we spent all day out there every day. Would immediately book if I return to San Diego

Peter was a fabulous host!! The house is also lovely and has so much character- we loved our stay! He put out Rice Krispie treats and coffee for us- such a nice touch!! It was sparking clean and we had so many food and entertainment options in walking distance. I would give 6 stars if I could!!

Peter's place was in awesome! It was in a lovely location in the Hillcrest area. It was within walking distance of great restaurants and coffee bars. We were within a 10-15 minute drive of everything we wanted to do. The property had a private entrance gate that only we had access to. At night, there was sensory lighting that turned on so we didn't have to make our way to the gate in total darkness. The stairwell to our 2nd floor apartment was easily manageable. The entire apartment was very clean and I am super picky! The kitchen area was great - full refrigerator, cooktop with oven, and sink. Peter had cookware, tableware, and utensils. There was a Keurig and we love our coffee so we were happy! He even provided the little attachment so that I could use my own ground coffee. The kitchen opens up to a lovely porch that's super roomy. There's an AWESOME tv so my guys were happy! The beds were extremely comfortable with awesome down comforters! The room with the king size bed was enormous! The bathroom is pink-pink-pink :) and the towels were thick and great quality. We had plenty of room for 4 adults in the apartment. Parking was easy and close to our entrance gate. Peter answered every email or text quickly. We had a package overnighted to the apartment address and Peter made sure that we received it promptly - we didn't have to go looking for it. I would definitely recommend Peter's Airbnb and would stay here again!

This is a really well laid-out, well furnished apartment in a really good area of San Diego, with lots of interesting eateries around. There is a huge main bedroom, a large second bedroom and extremely comfortable beds. It has been renovated very sympathetically to retain its character and the equipment in the kitchen in particular is of really high quality for an Airbnb - better than many of us will have at home! The terrace is very large and such a bonus in a city like San Diego - we used it even though the weather was uncharacteristically poor and it must be wonderful in the sunshine. It was easy getting to the fantastic park and around the city on electric scooters which you can sign up for online. Really great place to stay. Highly recommended.

Access into the house very simple and Peter was always quick to reply. Internet was good and Apple TV was great, convention center 10 min ride.

Peter's apartment is gorgeous, wonderfully located and incredibly comfortable. He is also a great host, responding quickly to my requests and really going out of his way to help make my stay as easy and comfortable as possible. Would definitely recommend staying here!

Fantastic and clean place to stay in the heart of Hillcrest

Comfort, location and charm. This place has it all. The location was perfect for touring San Diego. The inside is spacious and the beds are extremely comfortable. The host responded quickly to all communication.

Peter’s home was such a delight. It has a beautiful history and the way the space has little touches that honour that is really lovely. The master bedroom was so pretty and inviting, right on the corner of a leafy idyllic street. The private sun deck was a great surprise. One of the nicest Airbnb’s I’ve stayed in, and we use Airbnb upwards of 10 times a year for work and holidays. We even left an item behind and he spotted it and mailed it immediately. Thank you Peter! You were a very attentive host, really appreciate it!
